4You Accounting & Taxation (including its Related Entities and Related Bodies Corporate as defined under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)) is committed to protecting your privacy. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What personal information we collect
We collect personal information necessary to provide our accounting, taxation and business advisory services. This may include:
- Name, date of birth and contact details (address, email, phone)
- Tax file number (TFN), used only to conduct your tax affairs
- Employment details, income and financial records
- Bank account and payment details
- Business information including company name and ABN
- Family and relationship information where relevant to your tax situation
- Qualifications, memberships and professional accreditations
- CV or employment application information (for job applicants)
Sensitive information: Where possible we avoid collecting sensitive information (such as racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, health information). If it becomes necessary, we take extra care to protect it and will only use it for the purpose it was collected.
We also collect non-personal technical information when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited and cookie data. This is used to improve our website and diagnose technical issues, not to identify you personally.
How we collect your information
We collect most information directly from you, through appointments, phone calls, emails, web forms or documents you provide. We may also collect information from:

Tax file numbers: Your TFN can only be collected by registered tax agents, used solely to conduct your tax affairs, and disclosed only to you and the Australian Tax Office. We do not use TFNs for any other purpose.
Who we share your information with
We only share your personal information where necessary to deliver our services or meet legal obligations. This may include:
- The Australian Taxation Office, for lodgement and compliance purposes
- ASIC and other regulators, as required by law
- Superannuation funds, for superannuation-related work
- IT and software providers, who help us deliver our services (subject to confidentiality agreements)
- Our contractors and agents, who act on our behalf
- Related entities of 4You Accounting & Taxation
- Courts and legal bodies, where required by court order or law
- Prospective buyers, in the event of a sale of part or all of our business
We will never sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Overseas disclosures: Some of our IT systems and service providers may store or process data outside Australia, potentially in countries including New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. By engaging our services, you consent to this where necessary. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients protect your information to Australian standards.
Direct marketing
We may use your contact details to send you information about our services, tax reminders, and relevant updates by email, SMS or post. We only do this where you would reasonably expect to receive such communications from us, or where you have provided express or implied consent.
Opting out is easy. If you no longer wish to receive marketing communications, simply click "unsubscribe" in any email we send, or contact us directly and we will remove you immediately.
How we store and protect your information
We take the security of your personal information seriously. Our safeguards include:

- Staff trained in confidentiality and privacy obligations

- Secure destruction of information when it is no longer needed
We retain your records for as long as required by law or our professional obligations. Tax records are generally kept for a minimum of 5 years. When records are no longer needed, they are securely destroyed or de-identified.
We preference storing electronic records within Australia wherever commercially feasible. Where specialist software requires overseas storage, we ensure those providers meet equivalent security standards.
Your rights, access and correction
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date
- Request deletion of information we no longer need to hold
To make an access or correction request, contact our Privacy Officer (see Section 9). We will respond within a reasonable timeframe. In limited circumstances, we may refuse access, if we do, we will explain why in writing.
Please help us keep your records accurate by letting us know if your contact details or personal circumstances change.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact our Privacy Officer. We take all complaints seriously and aim to resolve them promptly and fairly.
